Santosha Yoga Teacher Trainings

Scholarship Program

scholarship-programme

The Santosha Scholarship is awarded three times per calendar year to a qualified candidate for study in a Santosha Yoga Teacher Training.

The Scholarship is awarded to those who are dedicated yoga students from developing countries with a:

– demonstrated financial need
– desire to leverage the yoga teacher training to serve a community in need
– previous history and experience in serving your community

Santosha founder Sunny Richards has been profoundly influenced by her teachers and students and continues to be inspired by the many talented individuals who make teaching yoga a career. The scholarship is a part of our broader effort to enrich the yoga community and make yoga accessible to all.

Why Are Scholarships Offered?

Santosha is committed to keeping our fees as low as possible, but recognizes that the fees may still be unattainable for many. Therefore, Santosha does not want the cost of training to be included in the selection criteria for such people who truly have a desire to become a yoga teacher. Yoga is for everyone, rich or poor, and at Santosha we feel we have a duty to those who face difficult economic situations and are planning to give back to their community after completing their training.

Catherine Shaw Santosha Scholarship

This scholarship is offered annually on December 1st in memory of Catherine Shaw and has been created in conjunction with her friends from the June 2016 Santosha group to honour the memory of this very special soul.

“Catherine or Cat as she was known to us ‘Santosha Yogis’ loved life and lived it more than most, she wasn’t afraid of the unknown; she described herself as a working piece of art, always changing and evolving, an eclectic mix of bright colours, soft brush strokes and infinite doodles of creativity.

She loved the world around her and the people in it; she loved festivals, dancing, nature, wildlife, sunshine and rain fall, she loved it all and so much more whole heartedly.”

Cat was much loved by her Santosha friends. To honour Cat’s memory and continue her legacy of joy and abundance, Santosha and the June 2016 group have created the Catherine Shaw Scholarship.

This annual scholarship is for those who share Cat’s spirit – making the world a better place by spreading love, light, laughter and a little sparkle.

Catherine Shaw Scholarship – Application Process

If you would like to apply for the Catherine Shaw scholarship exchange in return for the course fees, please email us through outlining:

– areas in which you are assisting in your local community and the world
– how you plan to utilize your yoga certification to contribute to the world
– any links or articles supporting the above

Cat’s legacy of bringing joy to others will live on in those who are gifted this experience through her memorial scholarship. Her abundance and love continues to touch the world.

Please take the time to read about Cat in the words of her classmates and friends, and to reflect upon the impact her incredible personality and generosity of spirit had on the those around her and the world.

“Be wild and free; forget taking too seriously what the universe made for fun’” ~ Catherine Shaw

“Travel on and travel well dear friend and we will feel you each and every time there is a warm glow, a soft delicate shadow, we will look and we will know you are happy in the places where you go” ~ Lizzie Petrie, Santosha June 2016 group

Yoga is for everyone, rich or poor. Cat knew the value of being rich in experiences. Completing a yoga teacher training course can change lives for many, including the people who further benefit from the teaching once someone is qualified. In this way the legacy of Cat’s generous spirit will continue to touch people all around the world.
