A passion for yoga and a desire to transform your life for the better is all you need to join us on our Level 1 Training. Over the intensive we will teach you everything you need to safely and effectively teach yoga to others along with tools for happier, more authentic heart-centered living.
Our philosophy is that there is no ``one size fits all yoga``. Yoga should fit your body, not the other way around. So some people may never get into particular postures, but if they are working with attention and intention they are practicing yoga whether or not they can form every shape perfectly with their body.
During the live Bali aspect of the Level 1 RYT-200 Yoga Teacher Training program you will have asana practice daily. We recommend that students have some form of an asana practice and are relatively comfortable practicing daily. If you have a regular yoga practice you may be more ready than you think. An advanced practitioner is not necessarily a person who can move deeply into advanced postures; an advanced practitioner is someone who comes to the mat with a level of maturity, a willingness to learn and an understanding of the limits of their own body. Keep in mind that this program is not only for aspiring teachers but for people who want to deepen their practice. For both students wishing to seek a deeper understanding and take their practice to a more advanced level or for those who wish to teach, there are no prerequisites for this course.
As the course is not purely asana (physical postures) based it does not matter if you do not have an advanced practice. You will be learning much more than just the asana postures. All we ask for a Santosha student is an open mind and heart and willingness to commit yourself completely to study and attend all classes throughout the 14 days of your live training.
A long time practice is a wonderful aspect that will serve you well during the Yoga Teacher Training but it doesn't mean that you have to be an experienced Yogi to do a YTT - or that as an experienced Yogi, you will not learn anything new! You will be taught how to teach Yoga authentically as it was supposed to be taught, taught how to modify and adapt poses to suit your students individual needs, how to use the breath appropriately and much more. Your own practice will expand in a beautiful way!
Yes, we believe that all people are deserving of changing their lives. Subsequently, the only prerequisite is a sincere desire in your heart to change not only your life, but the lives of others and to fully dedicate yourself during the training.
As long as you work to your own level - resting whenever you need - and let the teachers know if any health issues arise, then you will have no trouble with the classes. However, it is your responsibility to: Let all your teachers know (we give them a list of injuries but it helps to remind them). Follow all modifications given and speak up if pain or discomfort still persists and further assistance/ modification is needed. Rest when needed, and take breaks during class rather than push through any pain/ discomfort. Communicate any changes in your condition.
Please inform us as soon as you can with regards to any injuries. Our teachers are trained to take injuries into account and will teach accordingly, but the more warning we have the more information we can gather to best assist you. It is also your job to speak up and let your asana (and postures) teacher informed if conditions worsen or change. As long as you work to your own level - resting whenever you need - and let the teachers know if any health issues arise, then you will have no trouble with the classes. We have had injured and pregnant students complete the training many times.
It is possible to complete the course while pregnant, but we ask that the decision is made only with the consultation and full support of your doctor. Only they can advise if this is the best course of action for you. All pregnant students must provide medical clearance via a medical certificate on the first day of the training and email Santosha upon enrollment to formulate an individual pregnancy plan to best keep you (and baby!) safe and comfortable during your time with Santosha. You must keep teachers advised of any physical ailments or issues arising from your pregnancy, so they can best assist and support you when needed.
Yes! This probably means you are ready to step into something new but you just need that extra bit of courage to make the next brave step. You are welcome to write to us and let us know about this and we can happily provide extra support - both before and during your time with us on the course.
With the current situation this year, Bali has an updated visa policy. To enter Bali you will need to apply for a Single-Entry B211A E-Visa. You can find all the details on that visa right here. As soon as you book we can put you in touch with our visa agent who will assist you in your simple and easy application for a 30- 60 day Social Visa (B211a) which you will need to be able to enter Bali. You can apply for the visa online, so there is no need to go to a consulate or Embassy! This visa can be processed in 14 days before your arrival into Bali. Currently the cost is $500 USD or $635 AUD. Keep in mind this visa is valid for 60 days, so those of you who were going to extend your 30 day visa anyway, would have paid something similar to do your extension! AND you don’t ever have to go to the immigration office for your extension like most past trainees have done in the past! The situation regarding border restrictions and visas is regularly updated by the Indonesian Government, we will of course keep you updated with any changes.
Currently Australians are not able to easily leave Australia to travel internationally without having to quarantine on return. However, we are hopeful that this situation will change towards the end of 2021 and from the start of 2022 to enable our Aussie friends to join us back out here in Bali. The good news is that we also now offer our signature Santosha training on Australian shores in beautiful Byron Bay - please visit our BYRON BAY 2021 page. All of our bookings are completely flexible so if you book to come to Bali but are not able to attend for any reason you can convert your booking to join us in any of our other in person courses or online courses at a later date.VISIT OUR BYRON BAY TRAINING PAGE
There is a lot of speculation on when Bali will fully open its borders and stop requiring the special Social Visa (B211a) mentioned above. This could mean that they go back to the old-fashioned, pre-covid, simple way of doing things, which is the free 30 day visa on arrival (VOA). This may occur as soon as April 1st, 2021. If Bali does go back to their old way of 'free visa on arrival', then you simply don’t need to apply for this special visa, and things happen as we originally planned. (But you’ll still need a valid PCR Covid-19 test!) And then if you want to extend your 30 day visa, we can still help to arrange everything with our trusted visa agent, of course you would be responsible for any costs associated. We will keep regularly updated and informed as to any changes when it comes to visa formalities.
The situation regarding the requirements for Covid-19 tests and the need to quarantine is regularly updated by the Indonesian Government and can differ depending on your nationality or last country visited. Before you fly you will need to have valid travel insurance and/or local health insurance, and a recent (up to a maximum of 7 days) negative Covid-19 PCR test. Do check the specific requirements of the airline(s) that you are traveling with as the validity of the test can vary from 2-7 days.. You are then required to take a test on arrival and then quarantine in Jakarta (the capital of Indonesia in Java) for 5 days in designated hotels at a cost of approximately $500 USD. Once you take a second test after 5 days that is negative you are then free to travel onwards into Bali. However, we are confident that this quarantine requirement may be lifted by June 2021 and that you will just need to show a valid negative PCR COVID-19 test on arrival.
Flights to Bali are SO cheap right now. If you haven’t bought your flight, you might consider buying it as soon as possible after you have booked your course. We haven’t seen these kinds of prices in 10 years! And now many airlines are offering clear and easy refund policies. Make sure you get one with a flexible and generous cancellation policy.
Yes! You will need valid travel insurance to be able to apply for your visa and to enter Bali. Travel Insurance companies have recently changed their policies to offer cover for those traveling during the pandemic.
Currently the requirements in Bali regarding Covid-19 health protocols require masks to be worn when traveling, driving or walking outside. Once you are in the yoga shala or venue, you are no longer required to wear a mask. Regular hand washing on arrival at venues, cafes and restaurants is required along with temperature checks. We will also have strict health and safety protocols in place from arrival to departure that will include a health declaration form, a valid PCR test on arrival at the training (within 7 days) and a daily temperature check to keep all of us safe. PCR tests are available very easily and cheaply in Bali should your previous one have expired by the time you arrive at the training. No matter what the visa or travel scenario is: this training is happening. What we suggest: that everyone waits until June 1st 2021 before applying for the special visa, to see if Bali simplifies the process.
